'Casting Director' may be the official title, but Mel prefers to think of herself as a collaborator, host, observer, researcher, negotiator, problem solver, investigator and team player. Maybe also add magician. With a quick calculation, her casting career spanning 30+ years has afforded her the opportunity to conduct over 100,000 auditions and she still gets a kick out of saying ‘action’ and ‘cut’. Playing in the studio is always a favourite day, especially if someone brings their dog.
